What is it that attracts people to you? What do you offer to people over and above the service or products you provide? Establishing your “Unique Value” is critical to your success.
During the process of Coaching a team of People to create their Personal Brand Names, by the way a wonderful journey as it requires people to really think about why they are so Unique, some interesting answers were arrived at. They were asked “Why would potential clients come to them, rather than the competition? And what is it that makes them so unique?”
When we drilled down to find the answer from each person we found that we were left with an emotion or quality that they resonated with that is the driving force behind their business. All of the emotions expressed were honorable and understandable.
One Young Man felt the most important asset of his personality is that he is completely trustworthy, that his clients should know this about him. Whilst he is essentially a sales person he is passionate that his clients know that he will only sell them something he believes will benefit them. He is in the business of helping people.
It is more important to him to be trusted and to be known as a person that can be trusted, than to make the sale, and he intends to have his clients for many years. They need to know that when he offers advice or recommends a product, it is done so with knowledge and research and the firm belief that it is the right fit for them.

Whilst this young man believes in and likes the industry he has chosen, his driving goal is to be the person that is trusted for his advice. Knowing this we were able to tailor his profile to highlight this human quality, a quality that most consumers look for particularly within the investment arena.
Once the “Unique Value” has been established, it is easy to move forward with the rest of the Personally Branded site.
A Famous Quote
Finding a famous Quote or saying is quite often a key moment for people as this opens up further doors of thought. Once a Quote is found, a hook is added to the personal Brand and provides further Unique identification of the person.
The same principle applies to identifying with heroes, these may be captains of industry, celebrities, scientists, academics or entertainers. Again this relationship helps to demonstrate your personality and set up a commonality with your audience.
Books you read, blogs and websites you follow, music you like, and favorite movies further color Your Personality and allow people a bigger window to what makes you “Unique”. You will find you get a following from these details as people start to believe that they know and like you as they have the same likes.
Being liked is being understood, and that can only happen when you are well explained, when we understand what it is that you do and why. Once we know why you do what you do, we are more likely to want to communicate with you as we accept and like your reasons and want to get to know you better.
